Description

(Mentha sp.)

A hardy perennial that is the Basil you have when you don’t have any Basil.

Growing Tips

Mints require open soil with summer moisture. Given these conditions they can run away so should be planted where this is desired or in large pots. Will grow in low light positions.

Use

Add late in the cooking as the mint aroma fades quickly. Finely chop leaves and use them in salad dressings, marinades and sauces. Add to salads and vegetables for an exotic flavour. Tastes a lot like Sweet Basil so partners well with similar strong flavoured herbs. It is not as aromatic but will give cooked food the classic citrus and spice flavour with a hit of mint. Use with fish, vegetables, soup and salads.
