Lettuce Red Coral

Lactuca sativa

This variety of lettuce has to be one of the prettiest and also one of the best tasting varieties available. The leaves are a lovely frilly pinkish red and they have a softness that makes them ideal for adding to your homemade salad mixes to give colour and taste. It is a very hardy variety.

Growing Tips: Lettuces are easily grown in any moist but well drained, humis rich soil in full sun or part shade. For tender succulent leaves, ensure soil remains moist.

Position: Part to Full Sun

Height: 30cm

Lifespan: Biennial

Use: It is most often grown as a leaf vegetable. In many countries, it is typically eaten cold and raw, in salads, hamburgers, tacos, and many other dishes. In some places, including China, lettuce is typically eaten cooked and use of the stem is as important as use of the leaf. By varying the greens in your salads, you can enhance the nutritional content as well as vary the tastes and textures.

Harvest: Harvest leaves regularly all year round.
