Onion Welsh

Allium fistulosum 'Nibuka'

An attractive bunching onion with no or small bulbs. It comes from Asia where it is a staple part of most cuisines.

Growing Tips: Welsh Onions will grow in most garden beds provided there is a reasonable amount of sun. Respond well to summer watering and don’t like being over crowded. Very attractive as an ornamental border. Can be grown in pots.

Position: Part to Full sun

Height: 50cm Width: 40cm

Lifespan: Perennial

Use: Finely chop and use in sauces and salad dressings. Coarsely chop or slice and add to green salads or in Asian dishes especially those that require a more delicate flavour. They can also be added late in the cooking or even as a garnish.

Harvest: Harvest regularly and allow reshooting. Established clumps should be split every two to three years to prevent overcrowding.
